Shrink Ratio
Films shrink in two directions – in the machine direction and in the transverse direction. There is a specific measurement for shrink ratio at a defined temperature. Usually measurement is carried out using a glycerine oil bath. Maximum shrink ratios are in the order of 50% in both directions. Generally, packs require significantly less than this quantity of shrink and excess shrink is dissipated by way of force.
