Shrink Wrap Glossary > Polyolefin

Polyolefin

Polyolefin denotes display shrink films created from polyethylene and polypropylene polymers.

Polyolefin shrink film has become the principal material used in display shrink wrapping.

It has almost completely replaced PVC shrink film by virtue of its greater strength and cleanliness in use.

There are numerous grades of polyolefin shrink film.

Materials are invariably multi-layer and the number of layers can be as little as two and as many as five.

Layers comprise different polymers that offer different characteristics to arrive at a composite designed to meet a particular requirement.

The material as a whole can be irradiated or cross-linked in process or post-extrusion to enhance its strength.

Increasingly, however, the multi layering of different materials allows conventional materials to display adequate strength for their intended applications.

We have the most comprehensive range of polyolefin shrink films available from a single supplier.

Please examine our website for both the Clysar and Ultra ranges.
